The End of the World : 2012

Today at work during a meeting my boss said that the world was ending in 2012. This prediction is according to the Mayan calendar and some other important people. After this proclamation, one of the VPs took a REALLY big sigh and then said, "Yea I know ... Gosh, I sure hope it does."

And I could tell by looking at him that he was 100% totally serious.

I'm glad we're all on the same page at that joint.

UPDATE 5/28 : Today, that same VP resigned. Bless his heart.

  1. Ok...randomness alert. A) Pearl Jam is @ Austin City Limits the first weekend in October and then at the Outside Lands music festival in Golden Gate park the last weekend of August.

B)...I don't think I've ever blogged about it in detail, but I basically grew up in a cult as a child and young teenager. It's a wonder that I #1 I didn't drink the kool-aid (hehe) and #2 I am a functioning adult. In my lifetime the world was supposed to come to an end twice. Once in 1993, the rapture was going to occur and so basically as a 12 year old I stopped going to school, which would come to haunt me in my high school career having to do jr and sr year in 1 year or graduate a year late. I did that with honors and took college classes at night, starte working for the PD (which I'm at 11 years later), and got my first job...etc, etc, etc.

Ok...well then Y2K came and my family jumped on that rapture bandwagon. I can prove it. On the side of my house, there are still plastic 55 gallon barrels that were meant to be used to to sterilize water for our survival. I just threw away the bins of dried carrots, beans, and other "staples" about 18 months ago. They were forgottne in the garage for about 7 years.

Really, truly, I sometimes feel like an episode of the Real World. You think you know, but you have no idea.

As far as the Mayans, I was in Chitzen Itza in Mexico in January and there might be something to their calendar. But then again, at this rate anything could be my 3rd strike in the world's ending ballgame.

That was a lengthy comment...I should go stretch now. :)
